About GEA
Gas Energy Australia (GEA) is the national peak body
representing Australia's Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Renewable Liquid Gas (rLG) supply industries, including bioLPG, renewable LPG and renewable DME.
Our members span the full supply chain – producers, marketers, transporters and suppliers big and small, as well as the equipment manufacturers, consultants and service providers who support them. Together, they serve industrial, commercial, residential, recreational and autogas customers across the country.
Established in 1958 as the Australian Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association, GEA has spent over 68 years championing positive technical and policy outcomes for the sector, evolving alongside the industry it represents.
The Association has been through several iterations since,
renamed LPG Australia in 2009 and Gas Energy Australia in 2012, with a new
Constitution covering renewable forms of LPG endorsed in 2023.
LPG remains woven into everyday Australian life, from the
very high heats required for modern industrial processes, to an essential
ingredient in products from plastics to pharmaceuticals, to fast and affordable cooking and heating in millions of homes and businesses nationwide.
GEA is dedicated to building informed understanding of the
vital, evolving role gas plays in Australian life, and works closely with
government, industry and the community to ensure that role is properly
recognised. As proud partners of the Australian Gas Industry Trust and the
World Liquid Gas Association, we draw on their research and international
expertise to strengthen the case for gas here at home.
For businesses which are part of the LPG and rLG sector, GEA membership provides a role in shaping industry safety and technical standards through our technical engagement, and a stronger voice with government and regulators through our policy & advocacy engagement. Membership also provides an avenue to better connect across the sector, through networking, events and knowledge-sharing opportunities with industry peers and specialists alike.
