Renewable gases huge boost for regional farmers
LPG is already the lifeblood of farms, homes, commercial and industrial businesses across the bush and with its transition to net zero bioLPG over the next few years and, ultimately, actual zero synthetic renewable LPG, all can go on using the gas they know, trust and can rely on affordably while meeting government targets and avoiding the exorbitant costs of switching to electricity... Gas pumps $121 billion into national economy
At a time when some are predicting the demise of Australian gas, gas-driven economic activity is up 42% on last year and jobs dependent on gas grew 7% - including more than 7,700 new jobs in gas-fired electricity generation and over 5,000 new jobs in high temperature manufacturing. Gas is, and will remain, essential to Australia's economic and social fabric, while renewable gases will deliver green benefits for homeowners, businesses and industry that governments can bank... Electricity is not cheaper and cleaner than gas. Here's why
LPG is specifically not included in the ACT's impending ban on new natural gas connections. And for good reason. Zero emitting LPG has a clear, commercially viable and relatively easy path to decarbonise. It saves families and businesses from the costs of switching to electricity, is more reliable and will be at least just as good for the environment - our Opinion piece in the Canberra Times... [more]

Should we switch off gas?
In running GEA's Opinion Editorial head-to-head with the Grattan Institute, the Herald Sun exposes the failure to recognise LPGs transition to zero emitting gas - beginning in the next few years and replacing all conventional LPG by 2045. Grattan assumes business as usual, despite conceding LPG has a clear path to decarbonise. They fail to account for zero emitting gas, for households to save on massive switching to electricity costs and that ongoing use of (zero) LPG is more reliable while taking pressure off an increasingly overburdened electricity grid... Not all gases are the same, even Grattan Institute says so
A new report notes the great "Aussie BBQ is safe" as the advent of "non-fossil substitute(s) such as hydrogen or synthetic LPG" means a viable future "where natural gas from pipelines is used, it should be possible for equipment suppliers to develop and sell conversion kits to change items to burn LPG". Aussies like gas. And with it able to achieve zero emissions compared to electricity's net zero, there's even more reason to like it... [more]

Renewable gas will be part of Canberra's clean energy mix
The ban on new gas connections in the ACT does not apply to LPG. With renewable, net zero LPG being available in Australia from as early as 2025 - and it replacing all conventional LPG with zero-emitting rLPG by 2045 - renewable gas has an important role to play in a viable clean energy mix... World LPG Day: the ubiquitous gas with a zero-emitting future
With World LPG Day marked on 7 June 2023, GEA takes the opportunity to remind people of the important contribution LPG makes to modern Australia today, but also the essential role renewable LPG will play in decarbonising Aussies homes, businesses and many of the activities we take for granted every day... Switching to all-electric homes a cost shock that can increase CO2
Research comparing the costs and emissions profiles of NSW homes switching from gas to electrical appliances flips the conventional wisdom on its head. In fact, for most households sticking with gas is cheaper and lower emitting than making the switch. With renewable LPG becoming available in 2025, the case for staying with gas is stronger than ever... [more]
Switching to all-electric homes a cost shock that can increase CO2
Victorians considering switching from gas to electrical appliances in their homes are urged to delve deeper than the hype. Research comparing the costs and emissions in making the switch shows electricity is not, by default, cheaper and lower emitting. With renewable LPG becoming available in 2025, it makes sense to stick with gas... [more]

Renewable gas is the answer to power Australia's energy future
With 2 million Aussie families using LPG for in-home cooking, hot water and/or heating and LPG moving to renewable zero-mitting alternatives that save homeowners on costs and emissions compared to electricity, it's a case of buyer beware! It makes economic and environmental sense to stick with gas - our Opinion Editorial in the Daily Telegraph and NT News newspapers... [more]

Wilderness confusion
In response to GEA's Opinion Editorial in The Mercury newspaper, Wilderness Society Tasmania mistakenly asserted that LPG and rLPG are methane derived. Neither is correct. Our Letter to the Editor corrects the public record on this scientific fail... [more]

Renewable LPG is part of a clean, innovative pathway to a future that won't cost the Earth
GEA's Opinion Editorial in the Hobart Mercury newspaper demonstrates renewable LPG is a 'drop in' green replacement - that means no extra costs to taxpayers, homeowners, businesses or community groups using LPG. Existing cylinders, pipes and appliances require no changes. We praise the Tasmanian Government's approach as "the blueprint for other jurisdictions to follow"... [more]

Electric shock awaits Victorians switching from gas
New research shows switching from gas to high-efficiency electrical appliances achieves a modest reduction in CO2, but comes at a premium of 16-times the price of carbon abatement. Switching to cheaper, but less efficient electrical appliances, actually increases carbon emissions. With the pathway for LPG to decarbonise by 2050 clear, a rethink is needed on polices pushing people to electricity only... [more]

Gas pumps $70 billion into the Australian economy
The gas economy in Australia drives at least $70B in economic activity (3.4% of GDP), supporting over 241,600 Aussie jobs. Gas - including renewable, net zero gases - is essential for industrial heat and chemical feedstock to make the things we need for modern living. Gas will, increasingly, be called upon as a vital back-up for intermittent solar and wind power generation... [more]
